A Day in the Life of a Spiritual Coach

What To Expect Working As A Spiritual Coach

Imagine you in your spiritual coaching career going through your day. You set your own schedule, so you wake up and get going at a leisurely rate. Usually, you start the day with some sort of spiritual practice or positive inspiration.

Mornings: Staying Grounded

Spending time to feel spiritually connected is important to you. You may pray, meditate, or visualize what you want today.  You may do spiritual reading, listen to inspirational speakers or do some sort of healing practice. You always set a positive intent for the day and after your spiritual practice you feel centered and peaceful and ready for your day.

Giving gratitude every morning, looking at goals and intentions is often part of your daily routine.

Healthy Lifestyle

Health and Wellness is usually a priority for you so you might start your day with some sort of exercise- stretching, walking, yoga etc. or you may wait till later in the day depending on the schedule you prefer. You usually eat nourishing food that gives you energy throughout your day.

As a Spiritual Coach you feel compelled to walk your talk and live according to your values. Maintaining then your spiritual peace and maintaining your physical, emotional and spiritual well-being is important to you.

Workday as a Spiritual Coach

As you start your workday you prepare for the day. What is your schedule like?  Who are you seeing for the day?  Reviewing client notes is something you do to be prepared prior to each session.

You may need to respond to or send e-mails, make or return calls, work on social media or your other marketing activities. You tune into your spiritual guidance to know which marketing activities to focus on.

Client Sessions

You see clients feeling present, clear and centered.  You are able to fully focus on the client and be that spiritual presence for someone, creating a safe and open space.

You often start the session with some centering, visualization or meditation.

You discuss the client’s goals as well as stay open to what is most present that day to be addressed. As a coach you give space to those things that need time and fuller discussion, as well as keeping in mind coaching is about action, helping improve the client’s life right now. How can the client apply their spirituality to everyday life?  What could the client do right now to change their life? What is the next question that flows naturally or is there a tool or process that would best address the client’s issues?

Most coaches working full time work with 4-6 clients a day in one hour session or 50-minute session.  Full-time coaches can have 15 paying clients each week to 40 clients each week depending on the coaches’ preferences and success in their marketing efforts. Coaches working as a part time coach might see a couple of clients each day or see clients at night after work or on Saturday mornings. Many coaches also do a group or groups, workshop or retreat that they offer in addition or instead of private practice.

Staying Organized & Marketing Your Business

As time permits, you’ll do administrative tasks, bookkeeping and spend time on marketing.  You might give free sessions to introduce coaching to prospective clients. You might work on your website, spend time on social media, work on a video, do outreach to people you know, prepare a speech or workshop, write an article for your blog post, newsletter or social media, go to an event to meet new people who could become potential clients, or do a host of  other marketing activities.

Self-Care: Give Time to Yourself

As you move through your day you work on staying centered and present and maintaining your own spiritual connection. You try not to take on the client’s emotions, pain or negativity. You clear yourself from previous sessions.

You might have more sessions.  Your client sessions often reveal great lessons for you and things you need to work on or remember.

Time to Wind Down

At the end of the day, you do an overview of your day to see if anything else needs to be completed.

The day has been satisfying and rewarding. You know you’ve made a difference in people’s lives. You’re doing your work of purpose, your holy work. There is profound peace in knowing you are doing that!
