How Life Coaches Help People Cope And Conquer Today’s Hardships
More than ever people need life coaching. The world is full of wars, conflicts, and political challenges. People are often stressed, overwhelmed, and confused, not knowing how to navigate their lives and come to terms with the world around them.
Most people have some sort of life challenge whether it be in their relationships, with their health, their career or some other area of their life. Not only do they have challenges but important people in their lives are also going through some sort of life challenge, and it affects them as well.
Coping with all of these things brings many people to a life coach.
Since the pandemic it seems people are looking for more support, they asked “what is my purpose?”, “why am I really here?”, and wanted a life of greater meaning. People also really had to take a look at what was most important- their loved ones, their personal fulfillment, and their sense of well-being. Coaching has been extremely valuable in addressing these things.
The pandemic also brought to public awareness more mental health issues. People felt more anxious and depressed. Mental illness seemed to be more common than many people had realized. A lot of people do have mental illness, have a hard time functioning in their everyday lives and need the help of a license therapist. There is a big need for that. Most people, however, just needed help to cope and address daily life situations and challenges. For those people coaching has been proven to be highly effective.
Here’s some of the issues that typically come up in coaching and how a life coach can address these.
1. Stress.
Coaching helps people address their stressors, determine what is self-imposed and what comes from a situation that needs to be resolved. Talking about stress and coming up with positive solutions is something a Life Coaching session usually includes. Working on mindset, belief systems, fears and focusing on physical stress and tension are approaches a life coach commonly takes
2. Life Challenges.
Assessing whist is in our control and out of our control is often discussed Coaching is about rising above the circumstances and being proactive and taking action to better our lives. Coaching is also about exploring our options, having a different perspective on those challenges and moving into a more resourceful place. Challenges are addressed one a time and things get resolved and addressed head on. Letting go of what we can’t control is often part of what happens in coaching as well. As a result, the client can more successfully cope with their challenges, and experience greater peace and well-being.
3. Feeling fear about the world and the future.
There is a lot of uncertainty at these times. Many people are getting laid off or are considering a job change to make a sufficient living to cover their expenses. It’s common to feel fear about the world and what’s going to happen in the future. Processing fear and anxiety is common in coaching. Depending on the coach the coach may have the client do deep breathing, become of the fear their body and gently release it. come up with positive self-talk to counteract the fear and anxiety dialogue with the fear or a host of other approaches.
Taking action to move forward is always a part of coaching. Clients are empowered to make things better when they can and make peace with the rest.
4. Loved Ones Experiencing Challenges
In caring for and loving others we may feel their fear, grief, anxiety and emotional pain. Perhaps their loved ones are challenged with their health, their work, their relationships, or going through some kind of transition. Life coaching provides a safe place to sort out our feelings, reflect on how we can be most helpful and supportive of others, and let go of stress and upset we’re carrying from others, and do what’s most appropriate to the situation.
Compassion and understanding are modeled in coaching so the client can embody that more frequently with their loved ones and move through difficult emotions themselves.
5. Relationship Challenges
There are more tools and skills to help us in our relationships than ever before in history. Before present times bad relationships, abuse and poor communication were accepted. People were often victims in their relationships, felt powerless and stayed with the status quo no matter how it was working. Now they have more power to change and improve things.
Coaches coach their clients to communicate more effectively, set boundaries, work through hurt and resentment, take steps to improve things, and create much more fulfilling and healthy relationships.
Conclusion
Life Coaching then can be so helpful with stress, life challenges, our loved ones, and coping with our lives and the world around us. Coaches take a variety of approaches to help the client address their emotions, take effective action, work on their thinking and move forward in a positive way. These things make Life Coaching much more needed in the world than ever before.
